The Wake Project is a multi-faceted endeavor that seeks to address racism and reconciliation. The current three aspects include: a solo dance and spoken word performance, a diversity training, and an evening length dance work. Each component addresses issues of racial awareness and healing using movement as a catalyst for dialogue.

Preview
Enjoy this preview of Camerin Allgood McKinnon's solo wake(v): to become roused from a tranquil or inactive state. The video for the preview was taken during rehearsal so it is in a studio without stage lighting or costume.
I thought you would be interested in knowing there's been a spark of heat ignited among the Capitol Hill group for mothers (and fathers) called MOTH. Someone posted an experience that started with a parking space and ended with the use of the word "cracker." After the second post came in to sympathize with the poster, I felt inclined to weigh in as I read understones of Us vs. Them in the original post. So I shared my story that I shared with you from being a little girl and... well let's say, this thread started last Friday or Saturday and its spawned off into two or three different threads now.
So long story short, I'm going to meet with the original poster and 5 other ladies who responded in the beginning. We hope to have a meeting of the minds, just come together with respect and perspective. My personal hope is to create a forum that would be fun; something more than talking over a table. Maybe a storytelling session;)
Anyway, the piece looks like its coming together nicely. I pray you and others are benefitting from the work put in. Perhaps some ddep healing has taken place and restored someone's heart.
Oh! and before I go...
Congrats!!!!!! on your engagement. You and Sean are lovely people. Many blessings to you both.
